We can test for problems with your flue. If you have smoke smells in the other rooms or air not drawing through properly and any other possible issues.

We carry out core ball and smoke tests. Camera surveys of flue systems and also flue draft meter tests.

On completion of testing we can advise on and rectify all that is necessary to get your appliance working efficiently again.

Change of use or reinstating of an old fireplace

Changing from a gas fired appliance to wood, solid fuel or visa-versa.

Is the chimney flue suitable?
Is the chimney flue in a sound condition and has it been tested?
Is the chimney pot fitted with the correct type of cowl?
Have you got adequate ventilation?
Is the hearth an adequate size for the appliance?
The appliance distance to combustibles will require checking(This means if you have a wooden surround etc can it catch alight. ie: is there enough distance?)
Has a carbon monoxide detector been fitted?
Has the flue been swept recently?
Is the fireplace chamber and surround constructed of the correct type of materials?

These are some of the checks that should be undertaken when considering the change of use to meet new regulations and to be safe.
